The Inauguration of Board of Governors for the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI)

On the 7th of November, 2024, selected individuals who have contributed towards the growth and development of the Nigerian democracy were successfully inaugurated as Board of Governors of the Peoples Democratic Institute.

Present at the event were distinguished guests and Leaders in their respective areas in the likes of H.E Engr Oluseyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, H.E. Sen. Bukola Saraki, former Senate President of Nigeria and other dignitaries.

The event began and progressed into the presentation of the RoadMap for the Institute by the Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) Dr. Edward Adie, who in his presentation stated that the Institute has reached a point where inaugurated
Board members will be a driving force component towards deepening democracy in Nigeria and in Africa.

The RoadMap was unveiled by H.E Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State. The distinguished Members of the
Board were introduced to the public, robbed and made to swear their oath of office. H.E Engr. Seyi Makinde urged each Board member to work for the success of the Institute and put Nigeria at the forefront of promoting democracy in the world.

Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) Organises Training and Workshop for Party Executives from Alimosho, Lagos State

On 8th October, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) organised a day Training Workshop for a select team  from Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Alimosho Local Government Area has over six (6)million people residing in the Area. Alimosho is the most populated Local Government Area in Nigeria and Africa

The Training was the 4th in two months with the theme ” Deepening Democracy, Party Organization and Management at the Chapter level. This is in view of PDI’s  continuous quest for sustainable development in the democratization pursuit in Nigeria. The training was anchored by the Director- General, Dr. Edward Ugbada Adie and his team.

The good news is here at PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTE, PDI Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, wherein a new democratic culture is being instilled for all and sundry who shares the same democratic views and are interested in the new phase of Democratization process unfolding in Nigeria and Africa at the aforementioned Institute.

With PDI, be rest assured that Democracy has come to stay in Nigeria and Africa and the Institute is doing everything legitimate to deepen Democracy in Nigeria in collaboration with Continental and Global stakeholders in the course of democratization in our contemporary society ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) Commences Symposium Engagements

The Peoples Democratic Institute, under the leadership of its Director-General, Dr. Edward Adie, organized a very well-attended symposium with the topic  “Deepening Democracy and Development: An Interface with the Bekwarra Community of Cross River State.”

The meeting held on the 15th of June,2024 and  was attended by over four hundred people from the ten political wards that make up Bekwarra Local Government Area. The Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Timothy Ekawu, who is the Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the LGA expressed his gratitude to the PDI for bringing such a big democracy project to Bekwarra. The Chief Host of the occasion, Hon. David Oko Obule, who is also the Chapter Chairman of the PDP, was full of joy that the PDI had taken the lead toward deepening democracy in Nigeria. He added that Bekwarra is lucky to have its first democracy symposium in 2024.

The symposium attracted so many people from different political divides, and they all expressed their joy over the meeting.

The following topics were presented by Resource Persons, including the D.G, PDI himself:

1. Democracy, Communication and Development- By Barrister Timothy Ekawu

2. Voter Education: Membership Registration, Active Participation in Politics, Voter Power, Assessing Performance of Elected Officers- By Dr Edward Adie

3. Chapter Exco; The Need for Orderliness for a prosperous Bekwarra – Hon. David Oko Obule

4. State of Bekwarra Development: The Need for Assessment and Way forward – Dr Agaji Ntamu and Dr Edward Adie

5. Questions and Answers

The language of communication at the symposium was Bekwarra and this is deliberately so to optimise participation in the Communication process and  all activities at the symposium.

The question and answer sessions formed parts of the high points of the event. People asked questions on the issues discussed and even, out of the day’s subject. Answers were provided in very Participatory manners. This methodology was highly appreciated by the attendants.

Dr Edward Ugbada Adie used the opportunity to tell the people about the activities of the Peoples Democratic Institute (PDI) towards deepening Democracy in Nigeria and Africa. The PDI Boss promised that many of such symposium will be replicated in many other parts of Nigeria.
